Hurricane Irma Appeal

Once again, we are challenged with helping those who are in desperate need from the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma. Hurricane Irma has caused record devastation throughout the
Caribbean and the USA. It has left thousands homeless in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina where it caused massive misery and loss of life.

For this disaster, as we do for other disasters, this Saturday (9/16) a DAUSA Disaster Response Trailer accompanied by a team of Disaster Response Volunteers (Rotarians and non-Rotarians) will leave for Florida to aid in the relief efforts. The DAUSA team from Maryland will work together with its Disaster Response Team in Florida and Rotary District 6960 to help the victims of Hurricane Irma.

When disasters strike, DAUSA teams of volunteers (Rotarians and non-Rotarians) work with the affected Rotary District Governors, Rotary Clubs, local authorities and the Volunteer Organizations. Together, we provide the aid needed to rebuild their homes and lives such as clean water, food, mucking and drying out flooded homes, removal of water damaged debris such as furniture, household items, dry-wall, flooring, and insulation, as well as spraying for mold.

DAUSA is also responding to the Caribbean disaster with pre-positioned tents, clean water solutions and other aid. We are working with the local Rotary Districts and Caribbean Disaster Committee to determine exactly what their needs are. DAUSA also tries to supply as many of their needs from local resources as possible to help stimulate their economy and put locals to work which will also save on shipping cost.
